A traders language

My chronicles as a trader has taught me the well being of life, yeah!! I get the idea of taking a break, get as much rest as possible, eat good food, easy does it. It’s good and all stuff cause our body actually need a required rest. So as a trader I hear people say things like: Market no too dey like dat, I say make i rest( sales has been slow recently so i decided to take a day off). But also telling a trader to take a day off or rest is like saying #Don’t eat. You might even get response like :my children no go go school, lol a rhetorical question that you might wanna hold your peace.. I have seen men and women work tirelessly to meet end needs. Traders for all i know are the heart beat of countries GDP growth. Most of this traders are out there for the penny, turn over is our language. In Nigeria especially, you hear traders say things like “my gain is only 20naira” trust me 99% is the truth. When my mom and i started this trade thing, we got a lot of assistance from the market traders, they taught us how to sell, what to sell, how to display goods to attract customers, well the list goes on and of course it was a great feeling that there was this oneness that kept us together which was our pride as market traders. Though one thing made me feel a lil bit off, it was like I could feel blood rushing through my veins during the whole process which was “you don’t have to make profit from everything you sell, sometimes just give it out on the same rate you bought it ” these things set me off most times, I get mad at customer for even pricing goods at the same rate we bought it. All i could think about was how inconsiderate people could actually be. But i guess i was wrong, perhaps because everything didn’t seem realistic to me.

So somehow i knew i had to stop being mad at customers for being inconsiderate and sell, I realized in time that it was their right to bargain and all i had to do was to agree on the least price. It could be tiring, but in all this i have come to enjoy what i do and how i do it.

Madam how much last ๐Ÿ˜damn it feels like, don’t you guys ever get tired of asking? I also remember when my mom use to say “you are a Nigerian, you need to learn at least 6 languages” it sounded crazy at first but I only got to realize the importance as a trader. Still, the basics was still all that matters #how much last ๐Ÿ˜‚in WAZOBIA (The three major ethnic group in Nigeria) sometimes the craziest part is when you respond, they just keep talking in their dialect, like its OK!! THO, It’s interesting when you can relate a little and sometimes it could be exhausting ๐Ÿ˜ฅ..

I guess there’s is nothing as important as a win win situation, who says the scale couldn’t be balanced sometimes. ๐Ÿ˜CRAZY!! ๐Ÿ˜‚THO it could be in very few modifying condition. Sometimes when i see my mom try to get a customer to buy goods, i marvel at the convincing power of a market trader at the end she could be like “why don’t you buy? This is the least and the best price you can get, so you and i can be happy ” Yippee!!how about that for a win win situation huh! sometimes i feel takes advantage of her old age figure to get customers ๐Ÿค”.. Plus it could be fun when you get advice from a rather old lady in the market and sometimes you might just feel unease .(I can’t wait to fill you guys on how the market play a major role in training the society too) .

I want you to know the secret life of a market trader. I want people to not only see a market place but see individuals and what they have to put through to survive, they only need your penny, they depend on turn over to pull through, sometimes on nothing. On a blessed day i saw this movement that supports leaving your change for a trader rather giving a beggar. It is blessed to give beggars, but don’t forget people who need your money to grow, you are making an investment in so doing you are changing lives, reducing the poverty rate. There are situations where shop owners become tenants some move from a resident place to using a wheelbarrow to sell their goods, because they couldn’t keep up. A market trader can’t sell with the minimum interest rate, because they might loose customers in the process. So as a person, today i ask you, have you ever thought of how this individuals keep up with over head cost or meet up with their personal needs. Make an impact today #give change to traders, improve a life.

Yours sincerely, the traders daughter ๐Ÿ˜
